Filling
  • 1 lb Ground Lamb Opt for high-quality for rich flavor.
  • 1 Onion Finely chopped yellow onion.
  • 2 Carrots Fresh, diced for natural sweetness.
  • 2 cups Frozen Peas Add directly from frozen.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh minced garlic.
  • 1 cup Beef Broth Low-sodium to control saltiness.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce Use sparingly for umami richness.
Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 lbs Potatoes Starchy potatoes like Russets.
  • 2 tbsp Butter Salted butter for richness.
  • 1/2 cup Milk Whole milk or heavy cream.
  • to taste Salt Season to taste.

Method
 

Prep the filling
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. In a large skillet, melt two tablespoons of butter over medium heat and add one diced onion and two minced garlic cloves. Sauté until fragrant and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add one pound of ground lamb or beef and cook until browned, about 8 minutes, breaking up clumps.
Add the vegetables
  1. Stir in two cups of mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn) and cook for another 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce.
Create the gravy
  1. Pour in one cup of beef broth and bring to a gentle simmer for about 3 minutes.
