Ingredients
  

Potato
  • 4 medium Russet potatoes Choose potatoes that are firm and without blemishes.
Toppings
  • 1 cup Sour cream Optional
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese Optional
  • 1 cup Chopped green onions Optional
  • 1 tbsp Butter Optional
  • 1 tsp Salt To taste
  • 1 tsp Pepper To taste

Method
 

Prepare the Potatoes
  1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water and scrub the skin with a brush.
  2. Prick each potato several times with a fork to allow steam to escape during cooking.
Microwave Cooking
  1. Place the potatoes on a microwave-safe plate and cover them with a damp paper towel.
  2. Microwave on high for 5 minutes, then turn the potatoes over and microwave for an additional 5 minutes.
  3. Check for doneness by inserting a fork; if it goes in easily, the potatoes are done. If not, microwave in 1-minute increments until tender.
Serve
  1. Carefully remove the plate from the microwave (it will be hot).
  2. Let the potatoes cool for a minute, then slice them open and fluff the insides with a fork.
  3. Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!
