Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Sauté the chopped onion in olive oil over medium heat until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Brown the ground beef in the same skillet, stirring frequently until fully cooked, approximately 5-7 minutes.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a baking dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Spread half of the beef and onion mixture evenly over the potatoes.
- Pour half of the cream or milk over the beef.
- Add half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, cream, and cheese.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Uncover and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
