Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/4 cup fruit preserves (strawberry, raspberry, or your favorite)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pastry:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter. You’ll need an even number of hearts to create pairs.
- Assemble the Hearts:
- Place half of the heart shapes on the prepared baking sheet.
- Add a small dollop of fruit preserves in the center of each heart, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Brush the edges with the beaten egg, then place another heart shape on top. Press the edges together gently to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
- Add the Finishing Touch:
- Brush the tops of the hearts with the remaining egg wash for a golden finish.
- Optional: Sprinkle with a little granulated sugar for extra sparkle.
- Bake the Hearts:
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the pastries to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving for an elegant touch.
