  • Author: doorecipes
  • Total Time: 36 minute
  • Yield: 8-10 puff pastry hearts 1x

Description

These adorable puff pastry hearts are flaky, buttery, and filled with sweet fruit preserves. A perfect treat to celebrate love on Valentine’s Day!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/4 cup fruit preserves (strawberry, raspberry, or your favorite)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pastry:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter. You’ll need an even number of hearts to create pairs.
  • Assemble the Hearts:
    • Place half of the heart shapes on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Add a small dollop of fruit preserves in the center of each heart, leaving a small border around the edges.
    • Brush the edges with the beaten egg, then place another heart shape on top. Press the edges together gently to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
  • Add the Finishing Touch:
    • Brush the tops of the hearts with the remaining egg wash for a golden finish.
    • Optional: Sprinkle with a little granulated sugar for extra sparkle.
  • Bake the Hearts:
    • Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
  • Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the pastries to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving for an elegant touch.

Notes

  • You can fill these with chocolate hazelnut spread or cream cheese for a different flavor.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
  • Get creative with shapes and fillings to customize for any occasion!
