A delightful Italian-inspired dessert that combines the classic tiramisu with sweet cherries and amaretto liqueur. This elegant twist features layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, amaretto-infused mascarpone cream, and a cherry compote, creating a perfect balance of flavors.

- 24 ladyfingers
- 16 oz mascarpone cheese
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/3 cup amaretto liqueur
- 1/2 cup sugar, divided
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
- Cocoa powder for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Make cherry compote: Simmer cherries with 2 tablespoons sugar until softened. Cool completely.
- Mix cooled coffee with 3 tablespoons amaretto in a shallow dish.
- Beat egg yolks with 1/4 cup sugar until pale. Fold in mascarpone and remaining amaretto.
- Whip egg whites with remaining sugar until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into mascarpone mixture.
- Quickly dip ladyfingers in coffee mixture and layer in 9×13 dish. Top with half the mascarpone mixture and cherry compote. Repeat layers.
- Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Dust with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings before serving.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, replace amaretto with almond extract
- Use pasteurized eggs if concerned about raw eggs
- Can be made up to 2 days ahead
