Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the beef: In a skillet, cook the ground beef with chopped onion over medium heat until browned and crumbly. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Layer the casserole: In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the potato slices, followed by half of the beef mixture. Repeat the layers.
  4. Mix the sauce: In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Pour this mixture over the layers in the baking dish.
  5. Top with cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef for a leaner version.
  • Add some veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor.
