For the Cake
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
For the Frosting
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Food coloring of your choice (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Cake Batter:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a heart-shaped cake pan.
- In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla extract, then alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Bake the Cake:
- Pour the batter into the prepared heart-shaped pan. Smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the Frosting:
- Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and mix well.
- Add milk and vanilla, adjusting consistency as needed. Add food coloring, if desired.
- Assemble the Cake:
- Frost the cooled cake evenly. Decorate with sprinkles, edible glitter, or piping designs for a festive touch.
Notes
- If you don’t have a heart-shaped pan, use a round and square pan to create a heart shape. Cut the round cake in half and place the halves against two adjacent sides of the square cake.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for up to 5 days.
